Hello, I am Lori A Carpenter, DVM and I founded Veterinary House Calls (VHC) in 2003 to provide in home veterinary care for companion animals. It is my commitment to provide quality veterinary care throughout the life of your pet. My services and equipment are designed to assist in routine preventive care for young, healthy pets; early detection and treatment of disease as your pet ages;  medical and hospice care as necessary during his or her lifetime, and humane in home euthanasia if desired. I understand the special role your pet plays in your family and am dedicated to becoming your partner in your pet's health care. I treat your pet as I would my own. My goal is to practice the highest quality veterinary medicine  with compassion and integrity, with an emphasis on client education, while advocating for you and your pet.

I live in Livermore, California and travel primarily throughout the tri-valley area, but will travel further under certain circumstances. I graduated from the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital (VMTH) at the University of California Davis with highest honors in 1987 and completed my Bachelor of Science in Animal Physiology at UC Davis in 1984. I also completed a Don Low fellowship in abdominal ultrasonography at the VMTH.  I grew up in Livermore, then moved back to the area in 1996 to raise my family; we have raised many pets over the years, including numerous dogs, cats, birds, horses, turtles, hamsters, and fish.Today, I work primarily with dogs, cats and small mammals and strive to provide thorough evaluations while understanding your concerns and goals; I aim to fully understand your unique situation, answer all of your questions and help to provide the best possible outcome for you and your pet. I work closely with many specialists in our area and can help guide you through the often complicated and emotional path of advanced veterinary medical and surgical care.
